Psychological Type Indicator (PTI)
Overview
The Psychological Type Indicator (PTI) is a carefully crafted personality measure that is designed to give individuals guidance about their psychological type using the scales first presented by Carl Jung. The focus of the PTI is on providing individuals themselves, their managers and those who train them, with an understanding of personality and its effect on performance both inside and beyond the workplace.
Benefits:
- Uses the same personality type definitions and labels as the widely used and accepted Myers Briggs Type Indicator®.
- Teams can be configured while considering personality types to ensure blind spots are not missed and a diversity of thinking approach and perspective is considered.
- The sources for interpersonal conflict between peers or supervisors and subordinates can linked to “Type” differences. Understanding these differences can lower stress and conflict.
Description
The PTI was developed by The Test Agency in the U.K. and first
published in 1997. The initial design was based on an understanding
of Jungian typology and a range of type indicators.
The PTI has its foundations in the theory of Carl Jung as a
measure of personality type. However, unlike other Type assessments
it provides insight into personal preferences in a workplace
setting including the impact on communication, working
within a team, conflict handling and stress management.

Key Features
- The PTI offers individuals a unique insight into their inner self or their core nature. This is a crucial foundation upon which to appreciate natural behavioral preferences.
- Simple to use integrated Answer Sheet and Scoring Key with built-in Profile Chart. The PTI is packaged as a Self-Scoring Question and Answer Booklet, with an Integrated Profile Chart.
- The PTI booklet includes basic information on Jungian typology that an individual can compare to his or her results.
